Download v1.5.3

v1.5.3

LatestJuly 4, 2026
New·2
  • Visibility, one click away. The menu bar now has a quick switch between Bird, Dot, and Stealth, so you can go invisible before a screen share without opening Settings.
  • Release notes you can actually read. After an update, Chirp opens a What's new window with what changed, properly laid out. They used to be crammed into the About panel as plain text.
Improved·5
  • Speaker samples. On the Speakers page, a meeting's bar now lights up while its sample plays, so you can tell which clip you're hearing.
  • Microphone choice in meetings. If you set Chirp to always use the MacBook microphone, Meeting Mode now honors that too. It also keeps AirPods in their full listening quality during recorded calls.
  • Music during recorded calls. Starting a meeting recording during a call now pauses your background music, so it stays out of the recording. It comes back on its own when the call ends.
  • Entering your license key. The field capitalizes as you type, places the dashes itself, and accepts a pasted key in any shape. If a key can't be right, it says what to do instead of just refusing.
  • Model downloads. An interrupted download now resumes where it stopped instead of starting over, even if you quit the app in between.
Fixed·8
  • Headphones during meetings. Connecting or disconnecting AirPods mid-meeting could silently drop your voice, or the call audio, from the rest of the recording. Chirp now notices within seconds, recovers, and keeps the transcript in sync.
  • The notch during menus. Opening any menu could freeze the notch mid-animation, and a message could stick expanded until you clicked away. Everything keeps moving now.
  • Stopping long meetings. Stopping a long meeting could freeze the app for a few seconds while it saved. Saving happens in the background now.
  • Re-transcribing. Re-transcribing a recording was clearing its tags and custom title. They stay put now.
  • Correcting a speaker. Reassigning a segment to the right speaker could scramble the rest of the meeting, moving segments you never touched or merging two speakers into one. Now it changes exactly what you corrected.
  • Deleting transcripts. Deleted transcripts were hidden from History but not fully removed from disk. They now get permanently erased.
  • Auto-record. Quitting the call app mid-call could leave an auto-started recording running until you noticed. It stops with the call now.
  • Trial timing. The 7-day trial could quietly keep going past its end until you relaunched the app. It ends on time now, and shows a summary of your usage when it does.

v1.5.2

June 29, 2026
Improved·1
  • System audio permission. Chirp now asks you to turn on system audio before a meeting records, instead of quietly capturing your mic only.
Fixed·4
  • Meeting Mode audio. It was capturing your microphone only, so everyone else on the call was missing from your recordings. It records the whole conversation now.
  • Setup on the macOS 27 beta. Setup could stall on the permissions step. Chirp now requests the keyboard access the beta requires. (Sequoia and Tahoe were unaffected.)
  • Notch indicator. It could disappear when you switch between desktops with Spaces. It stays put now.
  • Delete confirmation. The dialog wasn't closing when you pressed Enter. Now it does.

v1.5.1

June 19, 2026
Improved·1
  • Background updates. New versions download quietly in the background. When one's ready, restart Chirp to apply it.

v1.5.0

June 19, 2026
New·2
  • Transcripts in your AI tools. Chirp runs a local MCP server now, so Claude, Cursor, and the OpenAI Codex CLI can search and read your history right on your Mac. Nothing gets uploaded.
  • Double-press to record. A new option in Settings, under Shortcuts. A double-tap starts a recording so a stray key press can't, and a single tap still stops.
Improved·1
  • Start dictating sooner. During setup the Solo model downloads first and Chirp tells you the moment it's ready, so you're not waiting on Meeting Mode to finish.
Fixed·3
  • Confirm buttons. Removing a device from your license, deleting a speaker, and clearing a recovered file used to do nothing. They work now.
  • Notch over full-screen video. It was staying on top of full-screen video. It hides now.
  • Welcome screen after updates. After an update, Chirp opens the welcome screen with what's new.

v1.4.9

June 12, 2026
New·3
  • Chirp learns voices. Name a speaker once, and future meetings name them automatically.
  • Auto-named speakers. They show a sparkle until you confirm. Correct a wrong guess once and Chirp won't repeat it.
  • Name a voice in the transcript. Link it to someone from your speaker library, or save them as a new person.
Improved·4
  • Overlapping speech. Better at telling who said what when people talk over each other.
  • Precise re-transcriptions. They read the way you spoke now, with real paragraph breaks, no repeated lines after long pauses, and numbers that highlight during playback.
  • Speakers page speed. Stays fast even with a big library.
  • About panel updates. Updates live on one line now. See what's new, install, restart.
Fixed·3
  • Back-to-back transcriptions. Transcribing several recordings in a row was carrying words from one into the next. Fixed.
  • Filler words. They were getting clipped with a stray hyphen. Not anymore.
  • Precise re-transcription. It was quietly using the fast engine. It downloads what it needs now.

v1.4.8

June 8, 2026
Improved·4
  • Recovering recordings. When a recording is missing its transcript, you can play the audio back to hear what it is, then restore it or remove it.
  • Bulk recovery. Recovering several at once is faster, and Chirp stays responsive while it works.
  • Feed performance. Stays smooth even when a single day holds thousands of events.
  • Duplicate speakers. Merge profiles of the same person in a click, and short clips no longer spin off new ones.
Fixed·2
  • Storage screen. It was listing your saved recordings as leftover files. Your audio and transcripts were never disconnected, it was just a display glitch, and it is fixed.
  • Cleanup safety. Cleanup matches recordings by name now, so it only ever removes the file you chose.

v1.4.7

June 6, 2026
New·3
  • Speaker library. Every voice from your meetings in one place. Play a clip to hear who's who, then confirm or reject Chirp's matches to keep each speaker accurate.
  • Built-in help. A guide to the basics, every keyboard shortcut, and the Speakers page, right from the menu bar.
  • Choice of recording keys. Prefer a different shortcut? Hold Right Option and Command to dictate.
Improved·5
  • Finding Chirp. A soft dot in the notch shows it's ready, with hints on empty screens to point the way.
  • Notch menu. Hover the notch for quick access to what you use most.
  • Audio setup. Allow system audio and Chirp offers to restart, so Meeting Mode is ready right away.
  • Speaker recognition. Chirp matches returning voices more reliably, working in the background so nothing slows down.
  • Refreshed look. Cleaner menus, highlights, and settings across the app.
Fixed·2
  • Trailing off. Dictation was trailing off before you finished a sentence. It catches every word now.
  • Update notes. Release notes were showing stray formatting. They display cleanly now.

v1.4.6

May 24, 2026
New·3
  • Ping feedback. A built-in feedback form right in the sidebar. Bugs and features become public GitHub issues, support and other go to private email.
  • Welcome panel. The first launch of a new version auto-opens with the release notes.
  • More frequent update checks. They run four times a day now. The version chip shows when the last one happened, like 'Checked 2h ago'.
Improved·6
  • About popover. Version info lives in its own header bar now, above the brand zone, so the logo and tagline read as identity again.
  • Update flow. Smoother across the board. Confirmation messages stay long enough to read, the button says 'Install' instead of 'Restart', and cancelling mid-update no longer leaves things half-done.
  • Update chip. Checks pulse with a quiet ellipsis instead of a loading wheel, and the success checkmark springs in cleanly.
  • Update progress. It sweeps continuously across download and prepare now, with no reset at the handoff between phases.
  • Diagnostic reports. They include speed measurements, hotkey assignments, and behavior settings now, so there are fewer round-trips when something needs support.
  • Menu bar dropdown. Check for Updates and Send Feedback both work right from the menu now, no need to open Settings first.
Fixed·1
  • Latest-version confirmation. After a manual check, 'You're on the latest version' was disappearing before you could read it. It sticks around now.

v1.4.5

May 21, 2026
New·2
  • Collapsible sidebar. Collapse it to a slim icon rail for more room. Toggle it with ⌘/.
  • Animated intro. First launch opens with a brief animated intro.
Improved·2
  • The Feed. Recent activity and any in-progress work live in one place now.
  • Title bar. Refreshed the title bar and in-app icons.
Fixed·2
  • Recording timestamps. Recordings were timestamped when transcription finished, not when they started. They show the time the meeting actually happened now.
  • Notch position. The notch indicator was drifting out of place when you switched a window to full screen. Fixed.

v1.4.4

May 19, 2026
New·3
  • Reworked onboarding. Clearer first-launch setup, with a hands-on demo of Solo Mode.
  • Press Delete to remove. Remove a transcript or speaker anywhere in History or Speakers.
  • Activity feed. It logs model downloads, app updates, and onboarding completion now. Click any row to jump to that recording.
Improved·9
  • UI polish. Denser content across every page, a unified corner gutter, and the Chirp wordmark now in the top-right title bar.
  • Update check. The version pill confirms with a green checkmark that holds long enough to register before fading back.
  • Search with apostrophes. Searching a word with an apostrophe finds the exact word now, instead of matching anything with that letter.
  • History search speed. Instant response while typing again.
  • History stats. They live inside the search row and step aside when you search, filter, or select, so they are glanceable the rest of the time.
  • Bulk delete. The scope toggle (Text only, Text and audio, Audio only) and Delete share one row now, with an X to close.
  • Recording badge. It shows "Mic only" when system audio did not capture.
  • Auto-record coverage. It detects calls in WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, RingCentral, GoTo, Chime, and more now (full list in the Settings tooltip).
  • Speakers page on launch. It populates reliably on launch now, no manual rescan.
Fixed·3
  • Keeping meeting audio. Empty transcripts were at risk of losing their audio. They keep it now, so you can re-transcribe later.
  • Audio during Meeting Mode. Other apps' audio was cutting out during Meeting Mode. It keeps playing now.
  • Queue progress. It was showing "0 of 1" when running multiple jobs. It shows the real count during bulk re-transcribes now.

v1.4.3

April 30, 2026
New·8
  • Time-remaining countdown. It learns your Mac's speed.
  • Meeting estimates. They adapt as Chirp reads the conversation.
  • Batch time-remaining. Re-transcribe or recover many files at once and see how long it will take.
  • Transcription time. Hover any transcript's badge to see how long it took.
  • Speed panel. The Models page shows your Mac's transcription speed.
  • Storage page. Rebuilt, with cleanup and orphan recovery in one place.
  • Cleanup controls. Pick what, when, and how much, with confirmation before anything is deleted.
  • Orphan files. Filter, sort, preview inline, and delete one or all.
Improved·4
  • Progress bar. Smoother across the app.
  • In-progress queue. Redesigned to match the rest of the app.
  • Menu bar order. Open Chirp sits at the top now.
  • Activity feed. Opens with day groups collapsed.
Fixed·2
  • Confirmation dialogs. They name exactly what gets deleted and what stays now.
  • Speakers page. It was missing voices on first load. It shows every one now, no rescan needed.

v1.4.2

April 25, 2026
Improved·4
  • Karaoke sync. The highlighted word tracks the spoken audio accurately now.
  • Audio scrubber. It stays visible whenever a recording is expanded, so you can drag it before pressing play.
  • Scrubber drag. Dragging the scrubber pauses audio during the drag and resumes on release.
  • History cards. Tighter rows with cleaner padding around the metadata.
Fixed·6
  • Pause position. Pause was losing your place. The next press resumes from where you stopped now, not the beginning.
  • Text flashing. Transcript text was flashing during audio playback. Not anymore.
  • Dark mode text. Transcript text was hard to read in dark mode. Fixed.
  • Number highlighting. The digit and the word before it were both losing their highlight. They highlight correctly now.
  • Tag pill. Only the text was clickable. The full pill works now.
  • Play/pause icon. It stays in the top row now, whether the card is collapsed or expanded.

April 25, 2026
New·1
